Sometimes, you find romance and tranquility in the most unexpected place – in the backyard of a large trading townhouse from the early 1900s, hidden behind stunning red bricks and exposed metal beams. We took the shape and essence of an old artisanal leather workshop and enhanced it to give you Matisse, an idyllic apartment for the perfect city break!

With 3.5-meter high ceilings, this romantic loft is surprisingly quiet. Your bedroom will be a good 20 meters away from any traffic noise, nicely cradled and protected by a sea of picturesque residential buildings. Step outside on the 30m² terrace and bask in the Belgian atmosphere serving freshly grilled BBQ at the long outdoor dining table.

You will be spoiled by spa-like facilities, cuddling your partner in the comfortable king-size Jacuzzi, sharing a steamy Finnish Sauna, and more! If you are planning a family trip, the additional sofa beds with real mattresses will provide your loved ones with the comfort they seek. The fully-equipped kitchen gives you freedom to not only satisfy your cravings but also to treat your companions to delicious home-cooked meals throughout your stay!

Planning a relaxing city break is supposed to be short and sweet – so why not forget your car keys and plane tickets and head to Brussels by train instead? While we offer our guests a complimentary parking spot, it is good to know you can simply hop on a train, get to Gare du Midi – the main train station of Brussels – and in mere minutes arrive at your little (200m²!) romantic cocoon!

There are so many things to do and enjoy in the loft. But if you want to take a break from all the indoor fun and relaxation, you can visit the Manneken Pis statue or go flea market treasure hunting at the Place de Jeux de Balle, both just 15 minutes away. Walk 10 minutes further and you will reach Parvis Saint Gille or Saint Gery, where you will find a long list of bars and dining options for every taste.

Went to Brussels/Gent for my best friends stag do. Needed an accommodation that could potentially fit 22 people. Comenstay was the only place that could accommodate that.After a bit of worry if the place actually existed, Albert was great with communication and also did a video tour of the apartment.When we arrived the accommodation was easy to find as it was only a 8 minute walk from the train station. Although not in the centre of Brussels, it was really close to all the activities that we wanted to do.With a variety of different ages the accommodation provided everything we needed with the added bonus of a pool table, air hockey table, table football, Nintendo machine and 2 pinball machines.The downstairs bedrooms were ideal for housing a large majority of the stag do party and the rest of the floors were fantastic, especially up stairs in the loft.Would definitely stay again if we were going to Brussels in a big group and Albert was great. Always being on hand to sort out any issues.Couple of things that need to be looked at are cue tips for the pool table cues and a much easier way to pay from a UK account. Honestly, they are completely minor things as we all had a great time.Thank you Albert and thank you Comenstay

Albert was extremely accommodating from start to finish. We arrived early and were allowed to check in slightly early also. The space is perfect for large groups and was very comfortable with our group of 11. There are multiple tvs and sofas all around the house with two kitchen facilities. The sauna and jacuzzi were great along with the games room. Would definitely recommend the house for large groups!

I am interested. What is the price per night?

Normally, the price is €250-€300 per night for 2 guests during the week (€30 per guest per night for additional guests), and slightly higher during the weekend. For last-minute reservations for the same day, we might offer a discount. How can we check in? What time is the check-out?

We understand that privacy and flexibility are important for our guests, so check-in can be done completely autonomously. You will receive the access codes and instructions once your reservation is confirmed. You can check in independently anytime after 15h. We will also send you instructional videos via WhatsApp to show you how to use the amenities. The latest check-out time is 11h but can be extended to 15h for a small additional fee of 50 euros.

Is anything shared with other guests? Are we completely alone?

Everything you see in the pictures (Jacuzzi, Sauna, Game Room, Kitchen, and Terrace…) is exclusive for you during your stay! It is not shared with anyone else so you will have complete privacy. However, please note that MATISSE is located in a building with other apartments, so you will share the main entrance and the common hallway with other guests.

Booking directly seems risky. Why shouldn’t I book on the major platforms?

Independent reviews are important to build trust so you know 100% that you will have a good trip with your group. Over the years, we have accumulated very good reviews from our previous guests on various online platforms such as Google and AIRBNB (check our profiles here). It is always a good idea to book directly with us as you will automatically save 10-15% compared to the price you will pay on the major platforms such as Booking.com or AIRBNB!

Great! I would like to book. How can I proceed and pay?

It is very easy! Please send us a message on Whatsapp at +32 495 116 940 (please do not send SMS as the response time will be much longer). Once we have confirmed that the dates are available, you will pay a small non-refundable payment of 100 euros by PayPal or bank transfer to confirm your reservation. You will then pay the remaining amount when you arrive.

Is there a security deposit/caution?

Yes, we may ask our guests to provide a 150 euro security deposit/caution to cover any damages that may occur during your stay. We may also decide to waive this requirement if a physical piece of identification (passport/driver’s license) is provided.
